2020 State Convention
It is with a heavy heart and great regret that I must report to you that the Indiana Elks Association Spring Convention at French Lick Resort on June 4-7, 2020, is CANCELLED. The Executive Board, communicating through e-mail, has concluded that canceling the convention is best for the health and safety of our members.
I would like to thank State Sponsor Jim Nichelson, Special Deputy Don Schoeff, and members of the Executive Board for their guidance and support. This has not been an easy decision to make, but it is the correct decision to ensure the safety of our membership.
James B. Sigler, incoming State President, and I have had discussions concerning his installation and the installation of his officers on June 6, 2020. How and where the installation will be held will be decided by our situation with COVID-19.
All members that have made a reservation at French Lick Resort, your reservation will automatically be cancelled. You DO NOT have to contact them. If you made a reservation at the Best Western or the Comfort Inn and Suites, you need to cancel your reservation yourself. All members that registered for the convention and purchased meals, your credit card will be credited.
All lodges that planned on donating checks to Cancer Research at French Lick, please send checks to Roger Krease, 815 Eddington Ct., Bloomington, IN 47401, before May 10, 2020.
Thank you to James and Nicole Sigler, Ed Boyle, Kat McArdle, Keith and Angie O’Donnell, and Beth Willoughby for your efforts and support in helping to organize what would have been an outstanding spring convention.
Today there has not been a decision on the status of the National Convention in Baltimore, Maryland, on July 5-8, 2020. Until we hear differently from Grand Lodge, it is still being held.
The Indiana Elks Association Fall Convention will be held at South Bend Lodge #235, on October 2-3, 2020. I hope to see all of you in October.
Mike Jack, IEA State President
